The 2022 World of Concrete was held in Las Vegas, NV at the Las Vegas Convention Center on January 17-19th. The convention featured industry suppliers, partners, educational providers and associations from around the world. The educational sessions spanned discussions from 3-D printing that focused on potential projects, permitting, materials, and design controls and limitations. A panel discussion on Women In Construction that detailed management of field personnel, supervisors, and foreman, while including a powerful networking session to pave the way for future women professionals in the field. Unfortunately, Train the Trainer Forklift was sold out early after the registration page launched but we have it on the list for next year. The main events for the Foundation were the participants in the apprenticeship competition. Foundation staff assisted with setting up the project areas, mixed a little mud, judged projects according to the set criteria and cheered on all the contestants. One of the contestants Sadat Gutierrez made her mark at the World of Concrete and was invited by Industry Partner Jag Clamp to be an ambassador for SkillsUSA in Atlanta, GA. She is profiled on the Foundation website and is truly showing young women the endless possibilities of a career in masonry. We look forward to a successful show in 2023 and filling the ranks with some FL competitors.
