Florida Skills Support, Marketing and 1 500 word newsletter article about the event

Along the banks of the St. John’s River in downtown Jacksonville, FL the Florida Masonry Apprentice and Educational Foundation set up the State FloridaSkillsUSA competition. Students, Judges, and Tenders traveled from River Oak Technical, Ridge Tech, Camden County, Ft. Myers High School and others to compete in the heat. The journey to the competition was a long and tumultuous road this year, we had to secure the students ability to travel in the early months of 2022 as Covid and protocols were still lurking around the State. The Florida Masonry Apprentice and Educational Foundation leapt into action in the early spring, securing brick, block, mortar, ground coverings and mixers. We had wonderful partners establish the regional venues that served as the lead-up to the State level competition that produces our State competitors.
The Florida Masonry Apprentice and Educational Foundation supplied the industry-recognized judges for the competition and had support from technical experts from the Florida Department of Corrections, Association of General Contractors, NCCER, and the Department of Juvenile Justice. The students worked on employability skills, workshops, networking, throughout the week to advance their skills and increase their opportunities for employment success. We applaud and appreciate all the hard work of all the students and staff.
